Others (there are who) have acknowledged their wrong doings: they have mixed an act that was good with another that was evil. Perhaps Allah will turn unto them (in Mercy): for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
A prophetic tradition recorded in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī recounts that the Prophet Muhammad described a dream in which two angels brought him to a city constructed with bricks of gold and silver. In that place he encountered two individuals whose bodies were partly beautiful and partly disfigured. The angels instructed these individuals to immerse themselves in a river, after which their disfigurement disappeared and they returned in a completely pleasing form. The angels then explained that the garden they had seen was the Garden of Eden and that the two individuals represented people who had combined righteous deeds with sinful actions, yet were ultimately forgiven by God (al-Bukhārī, as cited in Islamic tradition).
