80:1
(The Prophet) frowned and turned away,
It is narrated that a blind man, Ibn Umm-i-Maktūm, approached the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) with some questions. At that time, the Prophet (pbuh) was engaged in a discussion with some prominent nobles of Makkah. Feeling interrupted, he “frowned” (سَبَع). In response to this situation, these verses were revealed. Upon receiving the revelation, the Prophet (pbuh) realized that he had not been kind to Ibn Umm-i-Maktūm. He then approached the blind man and treated him with full respect, in accordance with the traditions of the time. This incident serves as evidence that the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) followed the Divine Revelation immediately after it was revealed (Ali).
