O ye who believe! Let not your riches or your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. If any act thus, the loss is their own.
Wealth and human resources, in all their forms, are transient sources of enjoyment and should not divert a good person from their devotion to Allah. The “remembrance of Allah” encompasses all acts of service, goodness, kind thoughts, and deeds, as these are the forms of service and sacrifice that Allah requires of us. Failing in these duties results in a loss that is solely our own, as it hinders our spiritual growth (Ali, n.d.).
