O ye who believe! Fear Allah, and let every soul look to what (provision) He has sent forth for the

morrow. Yea, fear Allah: for Allah is well-acquainted with (all) that ye do.

The “fear of Allah” is closely related to love, as it signifies the fear of offending Allah or committing acts that would cause us to lose His favor. This concept is known as Taqwa, which entails self-restraint, protecting oneself from sin, wrongdoing, and injustice, while actively engaging in good deeds. The positive aspect of Taqwa—or “fear of Allah”—is emphasized here. It is not simply a feeling or emotion, but a deliberate action aimed at preparing and provisioning for the Hereafter, the life to come, which is contrasted with the present life, referred to as “today.” The repetition in this context underscores both aspects of Taqwa: “Let your soul fear wrongdoing and let it perform every righteous act,” as Allah observes both our internal intentions and our outward actions. In His divine plan, everything will be met with appropriate consequences (Ali, n.d.).
