Say: “What! Will ye instruct Allah about your religion? But Allah knows all that is in the heavens and on earth: He has full knowledge of all things.

49:17

They impress on thee as a favour that they have embraced Islam. Say, “Count not your Islam as a favour upon me: Nay, Allah has conferred a favour upon you that He has guided you to the faith, if ye be true and sincere.

Islamic ethical and theological reflection emphasizes that accepting Islam is itself a profound blessing rather than a favor granted to others. By embracing the faith, individuals do not bestow a benefit upon its preacher or upon the wider community; rather, the benefit belongs primarily to those who accept it sincerely. When faith is embraced wholeheartedly, it is understood as a divine favor whereby God grants spiritual illumination and guidance to the believer. In this sense, the acceptance of Islam signifies that the light of divine guidance has entered the heart of the individual, leading them toward truth and moral direction as conveyed in the Qur’an.
