Except such as snatch away something by stealth, and they are pursued by a flaming fire, of piercing brightness.
Some Qurʾānic interpretations describe a symbolic image of the divine realm as an exalted court in the highest heaven, reflecting the highest ideals of goodness, purity, beauty, and majesty that humans can conceive. In this conceptualization, the angels form an “Exalted Assembly” that is granted limited knowledge of the divine plan and will. Within this environment, which is characterized by purity and obedience, the presence of evil is considered incompatible with the nature of the heavenly domain. Nevertheless, certain interpretations suggest that malevolent forces may attempt to approach this assembly in order to overhear elements of the divine decree. According to the traditional explanation, such attempts are prevented, and the intruding forces are repelled by a form of celestial fire, metaphorically compared to the streak of a shooting star observed in the night sky (Ali, as cited in classical Qurʾānic commentary).
