He said: “Transform her throne out of all recognition by her: let us see whether she is guided(to the truth) or is one of those who receive no guidance.”
The transformation of the throne served as a test for Queen Bilqīs to determine whether she would recognize it as her own and accept it willingly, or reject it as something unfamiliar and refuse to acknowledge it. Symbolically, this episode reflects a broader moral lesson about human behavior. Individuals often become accustomed to established habits, customs, and patterns of thought. When divine guidance calls for transformation and invites people to adopt a new and elevated path, acceptance requires conscious recognition and willingness.
Those who respond wisely may perceive such transformation as an honor and an opportunity for spiritual growth, expressing gratitude for the guidance they receive. In contrast, those who remain resistant or rebellious may reject this change because it departs from their familiar ways. In doing so, they may long for the former conditions to which they had grown accustomed, even if those conditions represented a form of limitation or bondage. This reaction is compared to the historical example of the Israelites, who, despite being guided by God in the wilderness, nostalgically longed for their former life in Egypt.
