Not for (idle) sport did We create the heavens and the earth and all that is between!
Commentators note that a similar expression appears in Qurʾān 44:38. Comparable language is also found in verses stating that God did not create the world in vain or without purpose (Qurʾān 23:115; 3:191; 38:27). These passages emphasize that, unlike earthly tyrants and the extravagant who treat their power and wealth as objects of amusement or diversion, God created the magnificence of the heavens and the earth with a deliberate and meaningful purpose (Rāzī).
