He replied: “The knowledge of that is with my Lord, duly recorded: my Lord never errs, nor forgets,-
Commentators note that Moses did not fall into Pharaoh’s attempt to provoke him. Instead, he followed the divine instruction to speak gently (Qurʾān 20:44). While maintaining a respectful tone, Moses did not compromise the truth of his message. He explained that God’s knowledge is complete and perfect—unlike human knowledge, which may involve error or forgetfulness. In contrast, God neither errs nor forgets. Moses also emphasized that God is not only all-knowing but also beneficent, pointing to the natural world as evidence of divine grace. The earth has been spread out for human habitation, allowing people to travel freely across it, and God sends rain from the sky—such as the floods of the Nile—which fertilizes the land and sustains both humans and animals.’
