Idrīs is mentioned twice in the Qurʾān, in verses 19:56–57 and 21:85, where he is described among those who demonstrated patience and perseverance. Some scholars have suggested identifying Idrīs with the biblical figure Enoch, who is described as having “walked with God” (Genesis 5:21–24). However, this identification is not universally accepted, and the Qurʾānic text does not explicitly confirm such a connection. Similarly, the statement that God “raised him to a high station” (Qurʾān 19:57) should not necessarily be interpreted as identical to the biblical account suggesting that Enoch was taken without experiencing death. Rather, the Qurʾān emphasizes that Idrīs was a truthful and sincere individual, a prophet, and a person held in high regard among his people. His inclusion among the other prophets mentioned in the passage highlights his continued engagement with his community. The account suggests that spiritual advancement does not require withdrawal from society; rather, individuals of faith remain connected to their communities in order to guide and assist them while maintaining truthfulness and piety
