In Islamic tradition, Ismāʿīl is often referred to as Dhabīḥ Allāh (“the one chosen for sacrifice”). According to this narrative, when Abraham informed him of the divine command to sacrifice him, Ismāʿīl willingly submitted and did not waver in fulfilling the command. The sacrifice was ultimately replaced with a ram by God’s command. Ismāʿīl is also regarded as the forefather of the Arab community (ummah), and from his lineage emerged the Prophet Muḥammad. Consequently, the Islamic community and the Qurʾānic revelation are viewed as reflecting and affirming the prophetic legacy associated with Ismāʿīl
