And pray in the small watches of the morning: (it would be) an additional prayer (or spiritual profit) for thee: soon will thy Lord raise thee to a Station of Praise and Glory!
Islamic exegetical literature explains that the “Praised Station” (al-Maqām al-Maḥmūd) mentioned in this verse is a unique honor granted specifically to the Prophet Muḥammad. Although commentators have offered various interpretations of this station, the most authoritative explanation is derived from authentic ḥadīth reports in which the Prophet himself clarified its meaning. According to these reports, the Praised Station refers to the position of the Grand Intercession (al-Shafāʿah al-ʿUẓmā). This event will occur on the Day of Resurrection, when all of humanity—the descendants of Adam—will gather and seek intercession from the prophets. Each prophet will decline, offering reasons for not undertaking this role. The Prophet Muḥammad, however, will be granted the honor of interceding on behalf of the entire human community. Detailed narrations concerning this event are recorded in classical commentaries such as Tafsīr Ibn Kathīr and Tafsīr Mazharī (Ibn Kathīr; Mazharī).
